What does TPCC actually do?

We are a recruitment agency, not a care agency. By removing the ongoing agency middleman, self-employed carers keep 100% of their agreed rate and earn significantly more. At the same time, private clients reduce their total overall spend by eliminating hefty agency markups. It’s a fairer, “win-win” arrangement for both sides.

What is the process / how does it work?

We have a thorough vetting process so that we only work with the most experienced and professional carers.

1) We get to know all carers in terms of your experience, background, likes and dislikes. This is done by an initial form and submission of your CV. Those who pass this initial stage then go through more thorough vetting.

2) When we find clients that are suitable for you; we will contact you with more information about the role. If you are interested in the role, we will introduce you to the client.

3) If the client would like to proceed with your application, an interview will be arranged. Interviews are normally online initially and then in person if time and logistics permit. This allows you to get to know the client and them to get to know you.

If successful, you will provide and sign a service agreement (contract) with the client and they will pay you directly. We never take a cut from your wages and you never pay us anything, ever. You are self-employed.

What types of role do you recruit for?

Our main area of speciality is live-in care, however we sometimes have clients looking for live-out carers too.

What is different about using TPCC compared to a traditional home care agency?

With TPCC, clients simply pay a one-off fee and then pay the carer directly — a rate that is agreed by both client and carer.

Typically, traditional agencies and various online platforms charge an ongoing markup, often as high as 30% even though their ongoing weekly involvement and support can be minimal.

What are your fees?

We do not charge carers anything, ever. We also don’t touch your wages so don’t take a cut from your wages either.

The only way we make money is by charging clients a one-off recruitment fee.

Who is responsible for insurance and tax?

As a self-employed person, you are solely responsible for arranging insurance and paying the appropriate taxes.

About the role

What is the typical rota?

The most commonplace is to have 2 carers rotating on a 2 week on / 2 week off basis; while some opt for 1, 3 or 4 week rotations.

In some situations, clients hire a carer on a full-time basis with one or two days off per week.

Which geographical areas do you cover?

We place carers for clients in all parts of the United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales). From time to time we also work with clients overseas on an ad-hoc basis; our ability to do this depends on the country and the circumstances.

Can I meet the client beforehand?

Yes! We encourage an initial video interview and then then do a face-to-face interview if time and logistics allow. You should only go ahead with a role you’re happy with; don’t ever feel rushed or pressured into taking a job you aren’t comfortable with.

Do I have to drive?

Sometimes clients require a driver but not always.

How much do carers get paid?

Normally clients pay £1,000-£1,500 per week however some pay more.

Do I have to provide food?

The norm is that food is provided by the client.

Do I have to pay for utility bills or accommodation?

No, clients cover this.
